What is this man thinking? According to the Reuters’ report, the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wrote a five-page letter to President Bush, asking him to withdraw U.S troops in
Iraq. This came in response to yesterday Bush’s announcement that he will not pull out the U.S troops until Iraq is stabilized.
In Ahmadinejad’s letter, Americans are sick of the war in Iraq. He then went on to say the 2006 Congressional election outcome should be a signal for Bush to take actions about Iraq and to realize that the Americans aren’t happy with his administration.Ahmadinejad’s intention of writing this letter is to tell President Bush that he is not a great leader and to leave Iraq for the sake of his people. It is sad for all Americans to hear this from their enemy about their president’s failure to do what they want. Many Americans want Bush to have some sort of a plan to end the war in Iraq and to bring the U.S soldiers home. Don’t get me wrong, I agree it is not right for Iranian President to say such thing. However, Bush needs a wake- up call. He doesn’t seem to get it from the Americans then, he has to get it the hard way.

It doesn’t seem that President Bush get the message after losing the Congress to the Democrats this month. Today, according to ABC News, Bush will not pull out U.S troops until Iraq is stabilized. This is sad news for everyone. How long are the United States soldiers going to be Iraq? How many more are they going to die? No one can really answer these questions except the president. Violence in Iraq is escalating to the point that the U.S media call is a civil war. The longer U.S stay, the harder it is to get out.
I thought the 2006 election outcome would give Bush a wake up call. It turns out, I was wrong. I remembered Bush was saying that he is going to “change the course.” Basically, Bush has done nothing since the election but had a talk/dinner with the Nancy Pelosi. I don’t know if Bush wants his approval rate to go higher or lower. For now, he wants to be the first president to have the lowest approval rate in the American history. Bush needs to realize what the country wants and not his self-interest. We are in this war for too long. It is time for us to go. He should start working with the Democrats and find the way to get the troops out.
