A low-cost airline, One-Two Go flight OG 269 attempted to land in Phuket International Airport during a heavy rain. It turned out to be a fatal mistake.
At least 88 died and 43 injured from this tragedy. According to the Manager.co.th, Thai online newspaper, One-Two Go airline is recognized as the best domestic low-cost carrier in Thailand. However, according to the New York Times article, South Korean Ministry of Construction and Transportation issued a warning last year to Orient Thai whose owns One-Two Go about frequent delays and safety measures.
Thai officials promised to investigate on this matter. The Phuket International Airport remains closed until the authorities are able to take the plane wreckage out of the runway.
