I guess, it was a right thing that Paris Hilton was in jail. She finally has the brain to respond to “that white-haired dude.” While many of you think I am crazy, Hilton did an ad in response to John McCain’s “Celebrities” ad. I have to say her ad is awesome. Clearly, it proves to the point that McCain is old. Face it, we don’t want a 70-something year old to lead the country during time of crisis.
I love the ad! By far, it’s Paris’ best performance!
McCain, you’re just too old. Oh, by the way, sir, Czechoslovakia is not a country!
Aside from the fact that he believes that Czechoslovakia is still a country, John McCain is the real flip-flopper in this upcoming election.
Have you noticed how he always changed his position? Instead of me listing them, I am going to let you watch this clip. Hopefully, you will not vote for him in November.
Pojaman Shinawatra, the former Thai prime minister’s (Thaksin’s) wife, was found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to three years in prison. She was released on $ 5 million baht or $149,000 bail. The family is planning to appeal the verdict, according to Thai news sources.
The decision of this case is rather surprising and disappointing. By 2001, Thaksin was acquitted on a similar charge. This time around was different. The pro-thaksin government and the Thai judicial system are under the pressure to “make things right.” Yesterday’s verdict was nothing. The court showed that it has the ability to convict anyone regardless of one’s socioeconomic status. However, Thaksin, his wife and his allies are acting above the law. The fact that Pojaman, Thaksin’s wife, was released on a 5 million baht bail bothers me; it’s too little.
The court should have given her the harshest sentence. Compare to how much the Shinawatra stole the money from Thailand–this verdict was nothing. The Shinawatra family stole more than billions of bath from Thailand. Everyone in that family should be in jail for life, period.
What makes me mad the most is that after the verdict, the judge granted the family to go see the Olympics game in China. He allows them to leave Thailand and what happens if they don’t come back to face the court? Remember, Thaksin’s trial starts a few days after the summer Olympics started. Oh, did I mention that he owns a soccer team in England?
Sen. Obama clinched the nomination for the Democratic Presidential candidate. He will be facing Sen. John McCain (R) in the general election.
It is not a big surprise that he wins since he’s leading in delegates from the beginning. Now that he wins, what is next for the Democrats?
The party has been divided since the rival between Sen. Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton escalated in mid-February. Since then, the tension between the two supporters have risen to the point that the party is now divided. Some Clinton supporters are now backing up McCain because he is more experienced. Some would not vote for Obama at all because of his race. (If you have the time read the comments from this CNN blog and you will know what I am talking about.)
As a democratic party supporter, it is sad to see supporters of the party are dividing into two groups. There is no way for this party to win the general elections if the angry Clinton supporters would shift their votes for McCain. Some of the comments I read on that CNN blog are very offended–I mean, what kind a democrat are you, if you choose to switch party line just because Obama is a black presidential candidate? You are not a true party supporter.
What Obama needs to do now is to bring Clinton to the table and work things out together.Clinton is dividing the party because she refused to concede this evening. She must join Obama and other democrats to beat McCain. I hope she thinks it through tonight and many days to come, it’s never too late to turn things around.
It is time for this party to heal and unite against the Republicans. The more we are fighting against each other, the less time we have to compete in the general election. Face it, would you want a 70-plus year-old president or a president who can bring new ideas to the country?
It’s official, the winner of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent is George Sampson. Sampson, 14 year old who failed to reach the semi-finals last year, has proved everyone wrong. He got the highest vote out of all the final contestants.
I am very happy for him although I was hoping either Andrew Johnston or Faryl Smith to win. Sampson has come so far. His victory in this competition will push him to the next level of dancing. His family will be able to get out of trouble situations. Once again, congratulations, you’re truly deserved it.
Last year Britain’s Got Talent, Connie Talbot and Paul Potts were the stars of the show. Both have released their first albums. This year’s Britain’s Got Talent, I must say, it’s much better!
I have seen watched a bunch of great performers on Youtube. Before I go on to talk about my favorite performer and possible winners of the show, let’s take a look at good performers who will go onto the next round but are unlikely to win.
George Sampson came back for the second time after being rejected from the semi-finals. I have to give him props and respect for never not giving up. Here is his latest audition:
I must say, he is much better than last year. I hope that he will get through the final round.
This one, I really find it entertaining. It’s Signature’s dance act. He imitates Michael Jackson’s dance with a fun twist.
Fun? Yes. Can he win it? I don’t know.
How about great female performers?
Madonna Decena, 32 years old, a club performer. She comes from Philippine six months ago to make money for her children in England. I like her performance.
Faryl Smtih, 12 years old, who has a voice like a grown up woman. Plus, she is very pretty. Here is her opera performance, Ave Maria:
She can sing. She can win this. She will be a future superstar!
The next one, it’s 10 year-old Charlie Green who is, if not mistaken, half British and half Filipino. He is very cute and has a charm like a superstar. Check it out:
This kid can sing. I’m telling right now, in the future, he will be a handsome singer. He maybe the next Michael Bublé.
My prediction: Green and Smith will go into the final round against….Andrew Johnston
13 year-old, Johnston has been bullied all his life because of his singing style. You can tell from his audition that he is lack of confidence due to his horrible experience. I have great respect for this boy because he refuses to give up his passion for singing despite what bullies have said to him.
Here is his audition
Smith, Green and Johnston are my favorite and best performers for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent. The competition will go down between Smith and Johnston.
My prediction is Andrew Johnston will win. He has won my heart and other 3 million Youtube users. I am cheering for him. Smith will get a record deal from Simon Cowell. I can’t be wrong.
Andrew Johnston and Faryl Smith will be the next Britain’s Got Talent stars!
This picture says it all about the American justice system.
On Friday, April 25, the justice was denied for Sean Bell, an unarmed 23 year-old New Yorker who was shot 50 times by uncovered cops in November 2006. The judge decided to acquit all three NYPD offices of all the charges. For some, it was a day of joy and celebration especially the police. But for others, it was a day of unfair justice.
The court’s decision to free the three officers was a clear sign that it was okay to shot someone 50 times and still able to get away with it. Imagine if these cops were civilians like me and you, I’m pretty sure that they will be put to jail and probably on death row. Sometimes, I wondered what went through the judge’s mind to think that shooting an unarmed man 50 times was not an act of murder. For the defense, self-defense excuse did not add up. How you can call it a self-defense after shooting Bell 50 times? It was murder.
Also, I don’t understand how can Obama and Clinton have the nerves to tell us that they respect the decision of the court! To me, they simply just don’t want to get involved in this conversation and police brutality. Just because we have police to protect us from danger, it doesn’t mean that they can abuse their power to do whatever they please. What this New York judge is doing to these three cops is pretty much telling them ”Hey, you, cops, are above the law. I will do whatever I can as a judge to protect you.” Politicians must address the issue of police brutality. It can’t be ignored!
Like others, I think the three cops and other cops who involved in the shooting should be punished and removed from their jobs. Cops are civilians. They are humans like us. They should be punished and treated like other criminals. You just don’t defend yourself from unarmed man with 50 gun shots.
Sean Bell will, for now, rest without peace as his family continues to fight for him. I hope that the federal Supreme Court will pick up this case and deliver the verdict I look for…”GUILTY”
The Olympic is an international multi-competitive sport event which happens every four years. It is the time that people from all over the world come together in one place, cheer, and compete for their respective countries. Many people like myself are excited about this year’s Olympics. However, because of political complications and issues surrounding this event, I feel this year’s Olympics will be the least exciting one.
China, one of the fastest growing nation and one of the severe human right violators, is the host of the 2008 summer Olympics. Activists from all over the world are pressuring world leaders and athletes to boycott the Olympics because of China’s wrongdoings. At the same time, they want China to take action on various issues such as the situation in Darfur and most importantly, the liberation of Tibet. While I agree that China needs to do something about these issues, however, activists must be able to separate politics and sports. They should not use this event as a tool to further their causes.
As an activist myself, sports are the way to unite the people from all over the world. Together, they use sports as icebreakers to discuss more serious and complicated matters. Some radical activists and protestors who decided to distract the Olympic torch relay are out of their minds. Their actions are inappropriate. These individuals have ruined the spirit of the sports. Instead of uniting the people, they instead are dividing the people. In U.S, for example, Americans are debating whether or not the government should boycott the Olympics! Are you crazy?
If activists want China and other countries to take actions on issues like genocide, they have to find a different way, a diplomatic approach. What they are doing right now is ridiculous and annoying. The media are starting to lose interest in covering these distracted torch relays and other kinds distraction. As a young woman who loves sports and cares about human rights, for this one, I am going to ask the radical activists to leave the Beijing Olympics alone! This is not the way to get the message across. Let the athletes compete while pushing these human right issues through diplomatic approaches.
This story is an insult to all the women in the world. I don’t care if the government claims that it does have enough jail cells for women. Regardless, this young girl should not have gone through this horrible experience.
According to CNN, a 15 year old, Brazilian girl arrested on a robbery charge. She was put into jail along with 21 men for weeks in an Amazon jail. Being the only female in the jail, she was forced to have sex with at least two men a day in exchange for food. The jail officials did not take action or even bother to punish the men.
The girl was in the jail for a month. To read the story, click here.
How could this happened? Does Brazil have a separate jail for girls and women?
Clearly, the government has no respect for females. How can a girl was put into a male cell?
It is hard not to talk about the New York Yankees these days.
So what that the Boston Red Sox won the World Series? The news headline that will dominate morning newspapers is Alex Rodriguez who has decided to opt out of his $252 million contract.
Rodriguez’s decision to leave the Yankees is not a surprise after Joe Torre left the team two weeks ago. According to his agent, A-Rod doesn’t want to be on the team because he is uncertain whether his close teammates are returning to the Yankees. His desire to play else where has shown that he is not satisfy with the team management. A-Rod would have stayed in NY if Torre was still with the Yankees. However, this is not the case anymore.
With Torre and A-Rod gone, what is next for the Yankees? More likely, there will be more players quitting the team. This will include Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte.
Only time can tell if these three players want to come back as Yankees. They heavily make their decisions based on Torre’s departure.
